Smartphones, which store personal information, photos, financial data, and more, have become essential in our lives. However, this significance also attracts hackers, who exploit vulnerabilities to steal user data. One of the most common methods hackers use is embedding trojans into mobile apps. Recently, 15 malicious apps containing trojans were identified on the Google Play Store.
15 Trojan-Infested Apps Found on Google Play Store
According to a recent blog post by McAfee, 15 malware apps with embedded trojans were discovered on the Google Play Store. These apps, which collectively garnered 8 million downloads, were primarily finance-related.
These apps reportedly use names, designs, and logos similar to legitimate financial applications, luring users into downloading them. They even utilize advertisements on social platforms to reach a broader audience. This strategy allows hackers to steal personal and banking information.
Security researchers emphasize that while these apps mainly target Android users in South America, South Asia, and Africa, this method is widely used, urging everyone to remain vigilant.
